Title: Nissan fairlady z33 - hau nguyen dinh
Name: Hau Nguyen Dinh
Country: France
Software: 3ds max, mental ray, Photoshop

One of my last project i did this year, took me about 2 months to model ( it was a side project so it could take me less as i am still in school) i redone it twice, the first one was really lame :) didn't know all the modelling tools, now that's better.

rendered with mental ray, MR sun and final gather
i wanted to add a photograph feeling to my render using some chromatic abberration ( thanks to jeff petton for that tip :) )

hope you like it.

I really like this as a piece of work, like Jeff's (he is a god isn't he) work it highlights how a subtle addition to a mental ray rendering can make all the difference. I won't comment on the modelling as I'm guessing this piece was more about expanding your mental ray Knowledge.

Keep up the good work, and can you post a link to your WIP, as I want to move onto MR sun and sky soon and this technique you have used looks very good indeed.

thanks for your kind words,

this render was of course lot of work about mental ray, how to understand it and how to use it. But the modelling phase was also kinda hard to me, as it was my first car, and first complex modelling.

Here you can follow the wip (http://www.cg-cars.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2805)

Nice going with the CA, but the anti-aliasing is set too low on this one. There are a lot of jagged edges on the building and car. If your aim is photo-realism then smooth edges and a very soft blur will go a long way.
