Love the subject and its execution. The colours are great, though your right about the depth, keep working on that. One thing ... where the hell are they attacking? Some kind of city of mosques?

To be honest with you, I don't know. I painted in the sky and the little buildings before I even had the idea of a UFO concept, it was sort of a cloud formation/cityline practise. I just built on top of what I already had and it was awkward trying to change the buildings.

Indeed very nice setting and lovely work with the light. Only thing I have a problem with is that since all the beams are emitted on a 90 degrees angle from the bottom of the ufo's... and that they thus look like toadstools... It seems all the ufo's are sitting on a stem, therefore shattering the illusion they are flying.

So maybe try and make the beams a little more like light or laser and less massive. Or vary the angle's a little.
