Hi there...I moved over to animation category because I was too lame to be aware of the art "gallery script" that must be visualized over there in the short film category.
So now I drop my recent wips over here
(I think the ones I posted in the shortfilm category will not automatically move):
Alright...
the main plot is inspired by the comics of Mjau Beibi [Meow Baby] published by Jippi Forlag 2001/ artist: John Arne Sæterøy aka jason (from Norway)...my hero in terms of new comic art.
Cast:
A mummy and two visitors (Archaeologists)
here are the first rough steps in case of character development. I'm after a mix of early 20th century / silent movie look and quite contemporary character design...
Comments and suggestions are more than welcome!

The archaeologists...as I wrote above I want to make them early 20th century styled...maybe one of them gets an vintage photocamera added...
Please feel free to add comments!

This is the actual modeling state of the mummy. Adding these bandages is quite timeconsuming but worth it I think...I will go with a combination of painted bandages underneath and these physical bandages to catch light and cast shadow.
At the moment I think the rigging weighting will work without problems (fingers crossed)
OK moving of my entry-posts from short film to animation category is finished.
Please let me know what you think so far

Looking very funny and impressive. I like the "silly" feel of the models. But it is a bit difficult to look at it now, because of the unnatural pose. Somewhy, it bothers me. But I guess when you add a rig, the problem will be solved.
Good job.

woohoo the characters looks kick ass mate!!... i love those explorers!!... when i saw the mummy for some reason it reminded me Monster's inc... it looks very interesting!!... keep it up mate .. cant wait for this to finish  :applause: :deal:
P.S. I noticed that both of ur explorer characters are wearing glasses in one eye.. u could try to change that to make both of them more unique... my 2 cents

Thanks for the nice welcome here!
@oferkapota: I agree the T-Pose isn't very good to introduce a character...I'll try to give them a rig that allows to bring their pose into a more storytelling/charactertelling position laters.
@overcontrast: You're right about the monokels (don't know the engl.term). Only one of them will wear it. I need to find another prop for the 2nd arachäologist.
@melkao: Well I'm working in C4D...I select a polyloop from the base mesh- split it apart and adjust it in terms of direction. After that I drag it into a "Cloth Nurbs" to add physical thickness automatically. A quite timeconsuming procedure but I like the result too.
I'll still need some time to finish it before I can go on with UV unwrapping.
@jhonus: I'm really glad you like it- Your entry looks very solid...maybe I need to ask you a few questions laters in case of detailing with zBrush
@wayne jermaine:Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
@mim: thanks for staying with this thread and keeping posting comments!

Heres a little bit more bandage work and the start of the painted texture underneath...
I try to left the tricky areas such as shoulders, wrist, ellbow etc with the painted tex only to avoid deformation/weighting problems in the next steps.
Excellent character design as always Mark. Bookmarking and will definitely be watching your progress!

Great start on your characters Mark, It might also be cool to give one of the archeaologists a cane and a limp. The mummy is fantastic, i just love the style.
