I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting this, but here goes!

In creating a playblast in maya on a mac, it only creates it as a quicktime file, and I wish to be able to create as an avi or mov. Also, in trying to transfer the created quicktime file to a PC the file won't work.

I've been trying to find menu options to change the output file settings but i can't find any, whether due to non-existance or just me not looking in the right place.

Help!

Use the `playblast -options` command to bring up the playblast options window. From there, select the codec you wish to use for your compression. That should let you output to an AVI file, you may need to have the appropriate codecs installed in order for it to generate the avi though.
