Hey,

I'm having a lot of problems in max at the moment. It happens most often with objects attached to path constraints, (with or without a path), but sometimes without as well.

I work mostly with helpers and camera's but I haven't tested it with other objects.

Problem is that whenever I try to manually move the object, max just stops responding, and will stay that way for a minute or two!!

Any ideas?

Before I (and probably others) can offer concrete suggestions you should provide more info such as:

Max version?
O/S used?
RAM?
etc.

Off the top of my head I'm going to assume you're using max 5. Do you have the 5.1 update? If not, get it. It really helps performance/speed issues.

Next, ensure nothing else is running in the background. Also, as per usual make sure you have all the latest drivers especially for your vid card.

This is a start. Once we know more perhaps the troubleshooting can get more specific.

Good luck!

Sorry about that. 1.1Ghz, 1Gig RAM, Ati 9000, XP, max 5.1

All latest drivers, otherwise very stable system. My best educated guess would be that it's in max, not outside.

Also, I found out, it's only when I use the manipulators, not when I use the type-in boxes.

I don't think that the problem is in hardware conficuration or max version. I had same thing about year ago with max 4. It's really pain in the ass. As i remember, there is some easy way out, but just can't get it now. Maybe later... probably not.

But sure you should check those other things what "signal to noise" said.
