I've been playing from with max4.2 for a few weeks and is now planning to model a head. I'm still quite new, so i need a few helps from you guys...

1. Are there any good tutorials(patches) out there on modelling a male/female human head? Whats the difference between male and female heads?
2. Which approach should i use? Box modelling, nurbs, patches?
3. How do i handle the hair?
4. What is subdivision surface?

Shoot I just lost a post (sorry new security levels), so now I'm being really short but this will get you started:

http://www.flay.com/text/tutorial/humanbodyratner/flay_headsubdiv1.htm

http://www.ls3d.com/FTP/SubDheadStart.zip

Meshsmooth, show end result, re-enter sub object, model derived surface in real time, convert to patch - lower topo before conversion - increase after patch, etc...

Off to do some of my own sub-d!
