Hey hey!

Here's a fun little project Rory and myself worked on over the past four or so weeks during our downtime. Modelled, animated, directed and dissed by me. Composition, editing and generally made good-looking by Rory.

Some of you may recognize the guy from the Twisted Extreme Sport challenge...my entry that wasn't completed in time (Hence the 'Extreme' in the title.)

Also thanks to Hennie Blaauw and Braam Jordaan. Thanks guys.

It's finished for now...I may come back to it after my vacation, fix some glitches, rework the ending (we were pressed for time and couldn't come up with an interesting ending, so we...compromised...a little. ;)

Yes, it's terrible, and yes, there are thousands of mistakes (which are probably all my fault), and yes, there are at least 4 different styles in it, but we enjoyed working on it, and that's all that really matters.

Find it at
http://www.3dluvr.com/woodford/animations/extreme_velocity.avi

You'll need Divx5.

Warning; 3dluvr's server uses pop-ups for download links and sometimes doesn't work, just keep trying.

Crits, comments and ideas for a proper ending welcome.

Rory wants me to point out that HE did the titles and clouds.

Hey, I think it looks great! At the end I could truely feel the sinking feeling that the character must have felt... too bad there was no real ending... Only two problems I noticed (only watched it once) were the hands don't seem to match the propeller at the beginning as he tries to start the engine, and when the plane takes off, the scene seems to jump ahead a bit just as it lifts off the ground... Great work though! I liked the combination of different styles.

Hey teddy and rory

great looking short film you got there!

Those where some neat visual effects in there, something that seems to be missing in most shorts u see on these forums ( some rare exceptions left aside of course ).

Lovely character you put to life.... quite the macho untill he finds out he forgot his chute hehehe :applause:

I have to agree with oxygen about there being no real ending though. Otherwise a nice piece of film.

Keep it up!!! :bounce:

Definetly takes you with! I like it a lot.

"Yes, it's terrible, and yes, there are thousands of mistakes (which are probably all my fault" Hah Hah...jep sure.

Don't be so hard on your self. There is nothing so wrong as you said. But i know the feeling. With my friends we have a term for it, "demoeffect". Hapens everytime you have to explain your works.

It's nice to see goodlooking cg with style. Doesn't have to be so finetuned or photorealistic. I love to see more animation's than allways those still renderings. It needs so many skills to produce even an short animation. I think this is good sample of basic everyway working 3D animation.

Most important is the feeling what viewers get, than the rendering system or other technical pla pla...
