I know it's not as user-friendly as using mudbox or zbrush, but I was just curious to know if anyone else here is using photoshop and the nvidia plugin to convert a bump into a normal map? If you've done so, I'd really like to see the results! Anybody knows if this is used in the industry?

I've personally been using it because my computer wasn't powerful enough to run Zbrush and find it still gives interesting results.

Here are the results I could achieve with this technique:

You can also view all the texture maps and modeling info in this short reel:

Please share your work and thoughts about this technique!

I have used this method at work but none on my home computer. It is a decent way to create normal maps and is fairly quick as well. I like it. Although, Zbrush can't be beat. Nice work BTW.

I gotta agree that Zbrush is much more intuitive than working with bump maps.
