Ok I don't get what is going on here. I have just created a simple hill with grass on it but every time I render it out this straight random line appears and cuts out the grass, I don't get it. I have tried reopening but then it'll appear sumwhere else on the render well strange anybody help me at all?

Hey there.

I can only think of two reasons behind this.

1) You didn't select those polygons back when you applied hair to your geometry.

2) There may be a cluster getting in the way of the hair operator.

That's all I can think of at the time. I hope it helps solve the problem.

I do see one small problem that has nothing to do with the hair shader- you've got it all pointing out with the normal and following the contours of the hill. That's great for fur or hair...but plants like to grow fairly straight up usually unless there is a condition called "creep" going on like on a wet cliff side etc. Add to that that the effects of creep are normally only seen in slower growing plants like trees and...

Point them up!

I didnt select individual polygons i selected the whole model and the error seems to change places on the render on every reboot so I doubt it is a problem with slection but thanks for the help.

Thanks for the input on direction of the grass, yeah I realise they only go up because of the light source, this is not an issue I want to solve a the moment seeing as it is not a finalised issue but for now I just want the render to work.
