Hi ppl,

I have only started this in mid December. Those of whom remember my McLaren road car will know that I can take years getting anywhere :P

This is the McLaren MP4/8 (1993 FIA Season) as driven by Ayrton Senna da Silva. The project is entitled ‘Senna’ and is a tribute to the greatest racing driver ever! Senna won 5 races in 1993 with this car which was underpowered, using a customer based Ford engine. He took his last ever race win in the car at Austraila 1993. Tragically, Senna was killed in a motor racing accident in 1994 while racing the Williams FW14.

I used Max 5.1 and Vray. The materials are only a test, so I can get a feel of the shape. And yes, the car is floating on the ground :P

looks very good, especially the details on the suspension. what is this modelled from? a model car, blueprint, fotos...?

Thanks! I have a 1/12 scale model which I photographed from top, side, front and back views. Then I used these pics as blueprints.
I have downloaded loads of photos too which I use as ref.

I will post a wireframe soon....

Whoah, excellent model!

Great tribute to a great driver. This should make a awesome poster. It really deserves a scene (race track)

I don't know those cars good at all, but I don't see anyway to take them off. They shoudl have some sort of lug nuts (or one large lug in the center) or something?

Thanks all.

The modelling is not complete yet, need to add the wheel nuts, front wing aero-pieces, rear end engine/exhaust details, model the drives body with animatable arms, steering wheel/cockpit details.

As with my previous project, I am facing difficulties finding detailed reference photos of the car. So some of the modelling is best guess :(

I have plans to construct a scene for the car. I was thinking of Donnington Park, where Ayrton won in true champion of champions style. But Donnington is quite a 'boring' track aesthetically, so I might attempt Loews Hairpin from Monaco :D
