Hi, I'v encountered a challenge,

I'v modeled and unwraped a basement apartment that is one soild object (one element).
What I want`t to do next is give parts of the model it's own material ID so that I can render out let's say, one room at a time - as oposed to render out one template that is ridiculusly big. What happend when I tried this was that the texture I had applied to the first room had moved position when I moved it out of the "render to template square" to make room for the next template, which make sence. I have been trying and without any luck to get the ID thingy to work. Right now I don't know if what I'm trying to do works, because I can't find anything on the net that helps...

However, it sound's so easy in the theory but can't make it work.
I'l throw up a couple of more images

but it does'nt work like it should...

Maybe I`v got it wrong and it simply is`nt possible? Do I really have to render out one BIG template containing all the rooms?

Anyone got an input? I'l appriciate any comments, please...

The material IDs need to be assigned below the UVW Unwrap modifier. Collapse the modifier stack, then assign your Material IDs, then re-apply a new UVW Unwrap modifier.

No need to move the UVs out of the way... just use the material ID dropdown in the Edit UV window to show only one ID at a time.

Good luck!
