Hi there

I'm creating a 3d female model wearing a dress. There is no animation involved - but I have created a biped and used physique so that I can pose the model. However, I'm struggling to find the right way to 'attach' the dress to the model so that it deforms correctly when posed in different positions.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone can give me some advice on the correct way to 'attach' the dress to the model so that it can be posed correctly and then rendered. I have tried Simcloth and Cloth Reactor but they all seem to be geared up for animation. I just need single frame renders of different postions.

Cheers in advance.

Howdy !

the fact that reactor or simcloth are geared towards animation does not mean you can't use them for stills : )
Using the snapshot tool for example you could create a mesh out of any frame of a reactor/simcloth simulation, and use that mesh for still rendering purposes.

[edit] unless you actually model the cloth 'in pose', reactor and/or simcloth are good ways to create cloth in a somewhat realistic way.

Hi mouj

Thanks for the reply. I'll give your advice a whirl and see how it goes.

"Now where did I put that 'snapshot' tool"
