Here is my concept sketch. The idea is to have these supreme athletes in a typical 100m photo finnish being casualy beaten by an obese guy eating a burger. Let me know what you think. All comments are welcome
First of all welcome to the challenge! This will be a strange but great one! ;)
Your concept has alot of potential to be funny if made right, really classic! :)
87 days to go!, just play around with angles and experiment with expressions, will keep an eye out for your thread, Good luck!

Here are the runners in thier differant poses. I posed the characters in maya before i brought them into Zbrush, just to make them a bit easier to work with.

Nice models so far! Their expressions are terrific! The fat guy looks like he's having so much fun. And all of the other guys look so determined, or shocked. I assume thge next step is to z-brush some clothing on all of them, or are you going to model that sepearately and use cloth deformation? Really can't wait to see how this starts coming together with the textures. Good luck...!

Great idea and I love the fat guy especially.
Something in the latest update looks wrong though- the arm seems abnormally twisted.

Well here's the set up in maya with all the characters and the camera angle that i was looking for. It manages to exclude the messed up forearm of the near runner. As for the clothing I want to do it in Photoshop. that's why i didn't put a lot of detail on thier torsos.

I've changed the expressions a bit to get some more emotion out of the runners.
Hey Gareth, wow, great models with a great great expression, i can feel the emotion, really great work !!:) I cant wait to see more of your progress !!

Here's how far i am at the moment. I'm struggling with the black skin tone, it has a lot more tones to get right. Any way we soldier on.

The texturing is coming out nicely so far. One thing you may want to think about tweaking is your layout. nothing major, mind you... there are just a lot of little areas where some slight moveemtn one way or another could help. For example: The man-in-red's left elbow is on a tangent with the chubby guy's left leg. The front-most guy's chin is on a tangent with the red-guy's thigh, and guy #05's lower leg is also on a tangent with that smae thigh. Nothing major, but some subtle adjustment could help all fo the shapes read better. Good luck!

Honestly it's one of my favorit ideas here. Maybe the best. Dunno. Dynamic, exciting and funny at the same time. Also like the toony-realistic expressions. just  and bookmark  I'll keep an eye on this. Best luck in the challenge! Before I forget: walrus is right about tangents. and am waiting for the depths, depth of field and some motion blur imitations, but it's too early right now, i know. Just go ahead mate! :buttrock:

the first thing that comes to my mind is that ... there's lot of motion in your work! :applause: very well executed .. even in its early stage  .. i do very well agree with walrus and tremoside .. me too waiting for the juicy details! :p once that's all covered up .. ur on seventh heaven my friend! class work! :buttrock: good luck as always!

that(s excellent I didn't saw this picture before. I'm not fond of the sky, a little to bright and pale. And so for the hair of the character. For the rest
