This was painted between last night and today based on a sky that I saw a couple days ago and my wife was good enough to get my camera shooting it for me while I was driving to work. Im questioning my initial focal point which is the bridge but Im starting to lean back to it. Anyway its not done but should be soon... the tall aspect is intentional for a upward camera tilt.

Very beautiful, I like the color palette. Are there any photographic elements in there?

Nice image! It looks a bit odd at the part where the bridge meets the rocks on the right: The rocks that are closer to the viewer have less contrast than the bridge, which is a bit further away.

This image got me to thinking, what does everyone think about the idea of a bridge for the next unofficial matte challenge? I recall a contest some time ago that had simply a gate for the subject matter. It was a good topic for people to do fantasy, sf, or current styles, but is a basic utilitarian object that would be interesting to see interpretations of.

I really like the color palette. The bridge is fine but not as focal...it's better suited as a frame element for something else.

hmm I have been considering that, a small boat in the water, or a small village toward the horizon.

Artbot thats an interesting idea.

Very nice! I love the feeling of looking up to the bridge here. Really nice pallete.
The out of focus rocks bother me though. Not keen on that. They'd have to be really close to the camera seeing as everything else is in focus. They throw me out of the image. Still brilliant though :)

Yeah the intent is that Foreground rock kis about two or three feet high while the others a quite abit higher, Its about the depth of field that my nikon would do. I originally painted this in focus and just before export lens blurred it because mainly it feels really flat without it.

Update based on a few suggestions that I have gotten... I think Im going to drop this in 3ds max and create a more realistic waterscape and animate the camera.

yeah some work on the water will help this image a lot and will give a nice dynamic feel to it , looking forward to see the animated version, I would push a little more the aereal perspective on the edge of the foreground rock elements now it look too flat to me, some foggy efect on the edges will make it look more like a rounded surface in the distance

I really like the mood in this matte. The rock on the left needs some volume adjustments.

Good luck.

In my minds eye I can see two mischievous children on the bridge throwing stones in the water making a big splash. Out of their view is a angry fisherman in his boat cursing the disruption.

If you painted in the distance a small village the bridge and rocks will perfectly frame the scene.

Many regard
