Hi I was baking a object that I collapsed to 1 object and I had a lighting, difuse and specularity map set up and had my lighting set up fine but got this problem of the black void and it takes up almost all of the texture bake, does anyone know what could cause this problem and how to fix it?

hmmm... seems rather odd. Only thing I can think of is that you might be baking to the incorrect channel... otherwise I'm not too sure.

Max's render to texture is a bit dubious. I've also had problems where it adds small black artifacts to the baked texture. That was mostly sorted out by either scaling up or down the mesh by about 10000%.

this texture looks like you missed a plane in the uvmap and it renders the map over the other parts, detach the plane and the baking process will work again

thanks, I think that might do the trick.
