ok the question

1.what is the MAYA_APPDIR?

2. how do i set up one Maya.env for each project, and make the Maya env load plugins on a folder different than the default maya locations?

for example.
suppose i have a maya project. called... project01
this project aside from the maya default folders ( scenes, images etc) has also scripts, plugins, and icons folders.
what i want to know is can i set the maya env to look the plugins of project01 inside project01's plugins folder? same for the scripts and the icons?

3. is doing this worth it? or shoudl i just keep each plugin and script in the maya's default places?

thanks in advenced.

Ps its kind of hard to explain what i want so i am not sure if this sounds clear.
but any help would be really appreciated

Sincerely
alx

1) MAYA_APP_DIR is the folder in which the maya support folder is located (prefs, scripts, shelves, etc...). For instance, my MAYA_APP_DIR is:

/Users/julianl/Library/Preferences/AliasWavefront/maya

2) Look at the getenv and putenv commands. You could manually edit the Maya.env to do what you want but it sounds more like you want something more dynamic than that.
