Hi all.
I have been new to 3d animation for about 9 months, coming from a CAD background of about 8 years.
I bought Lightwave 7.5 about nine months ago and since then have bought 5 DVD's, 3 VHS tapes, 5 lightwave books and an online course. All for Lightwave.
I have been playing around recently with the MAYA PLE version and I am not sure why, but I am finding it alot faster to learn and I feel more comfortable in it than Lightwave.
I think it is partially due to me having learned the fundamentals and basics of 3D with Lightwave. I also think part may be that the user-interface more closely resembles CAD programs that I use for work. This is only true in the sense that it is icon based. However weird that may sound that something that trivial could make a difference, i think it is true.
Now, before I sink any more money into Lightwave, I am wondering if any of you know if MAYA does a competetive upgrade to ditch Lightwave and switch to MAYA?
Thanks for your time.
