Okay, this is my first post...Hi everyone! This is a scene I'm working on for my high school A.P. art class, I'm using the educational version of max 5 I bought after many hours working at Circuit City. Much as I'd love to spend hours making all sorts of cool detailed stuff, like hoses coming out of the ship going into the building and stuff, I don't really have the time for it because I have to finish up my portfolio in a few weeks. Anyways, it's still got a long ways to go, but I thought I'd throw it out there and say hey to this cool community. Cool, looks like a model kit :p Is the ship missing a wing on the other side? Alot of detailing can be done with Bump maps. I think your ok without the hoses etc... a designer actually building such a platform outside wouldn't have exposed wiring and hoses, think about it, how many building do you see with thier heating vents and cooling systems on the outside of the building. That approach may have a "future/Star Wars" feel to it, but it would be against common archetextural design sense and safety issues. To be real that is, as we get farther into the future, things get more compact and neatly packaged, not all loosse and sloppy like some SF movies potray. Your model looks just fine!

Actually the ship is symmetrical, it just looks that way from the angle I rendered it at. Thanks for the feedback!

woah i like it ! ... it has a kind of cartoonish style to it that i really like ... i agree that more detail is not needed .. if you wish to keep the cartonnish look .. then simplisity is better ... it looks great ... hum though you said it was suppose to be a docking station ... for space ships or? cuse your ship looks like a harrier jet with suction cups for landing gear .. but i like the ship just the same has style .. good work.. lets see it textured!

Alright, I'm starting to do some of the texturing, I'm also going to begin adding some lighting other than the skylight...I'll try and post some progress in the next few days. Here's the next image:
