CGTalk - Character Setup: control curve control IK/FK?

Hi all....
I want to ask....can I use control curve to my joint with IK but still keep the Maya's switch IK/FK function? and I'm just confusing about the "connect to IK/FK" function... It's seem just put the sovler enable on my control curve.
