View Full Version : Looking for Allie plugin
gribble 07-28-2007, 08:51 AM I am desparately trying to find the c4d plug 'Allie' which was given a way free some time ago through 3dattack.
It would be perfect for the effect I am trying to achieve.
Any ideas please?

Sorry gribble, Allie was part of Jenna which no longer exists. Much of the functionality has been replaced by Maxon's MoGraph module, which is not free however...

From the manual
ALLIE is a procedural object generator utilizing a grid of instanced hierarchies that can be further influenced by material properties. Creation, source hierarchy selection, translation, scale, orientation, visible light color, and even final shading properties can be influenced by these material channels. ALLIE is ideal for the quick and efficient creation of stylized,
repeating structures as well as irregular, organic structures composed from a specific object (droplets on a surface, cloud structures, etc...). With a bit of experimentation and creativity you can realize a huge range of forms. It is well worth taking
some time to explore the wealth of ALLIE’s possibilities.
ALLIE works by referencing a source object/hierarchy or instanced hierarchy. The source can be animated using the timeline, set driven keys, or XPRESSO, or tested and manipulated with all instances of the object updating in “real time”. As
a helpful workflow suggestion, users are encouraged to use simple primitives to get the orientation and options of the ALLIE object prepared, and, when the initial results prove satisfactory, to substitute the actual source object for the final render. In
this way the maximum efficiency can be realized in the creation of fantastic and unique visual treatments.

I am quite sure that both Wes and Chris know what Allie does. I think the question was more to know what precisely he (original post) wants to achieve, since most Allies-type setups can be also done with Mograph, in particular using the Shader Effector.

Strange, I am getting rather similar results ( had to make the spheres slightly smaller when using Mograph).

Thanks for your replies.
Mograph is out of the question for me - far too expensive on my meagre budget.
I saw a dot tone tutorial at lizardlounge.com which uses Allie.
