Well you got a little problem, since the files on the Fundamentals Cd is Maya Ple version.

So the only way to open them is to get Maya Ple :)

nautilus is right, but incase you still want to know how to open 4.5 on 4.0, heres a tutorial. its short and to the point, i made it a while ago when someone asked how to do it on the AW messageboard.

Ohh, took for granted you knew what Maya Ple was.

Maya PLE = Maya Personal Learning Edition (http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/products/maya/ple/index.shtml)

Maya Personal Learning Edition is a special version of Maya, it provides users with free access to Maya "non-commercial use".
Its has the display of a watermark on images as well as through the use of a special non-commercial file format. Only Maya Ple can read this format.

I think you probably have the CD from this book

If so you should be ok, but you HAVE to use the 'opening 4.5 files in 4' trick that is posted upove.
