View Full Version : cleaning mesh
AndreKling 03-27-2003, 12:05 AM Hello all, Maya is not my favorite softw. yet, and i have a question about it, how can i do like a smoothing group of the 3Dmax?? Cecause im making a low poly character and i would like to clean the shape, simulating a smooth. If smomone use max, is the smooth options under edit mesh.... i dont want to put more vertices ( so the smoth doesnt work ) just simulate, or clean the hard edges of shadows and lights...
Is it easy to understand?
Thanks anyway

you want to "clean the hard edges of shadows and lights"? Do you mean you want to "soften" the edges? if so select the edges you want to effect and go to EditPolygons>Normals>Soften/Harden and in the options you can set it from a value of 0 to 180. 0=softest; 180=hardest. I think this is what you are asking.

BTW, since your new to Maya and your used to 3DstudioMax...if you like to you the MeshSmooth modifier, search the net for Connect Poly Shape pluggin, its Maya's answer to MeshSmooth more or less
