Hey there,

Uh...just a quick question. When modeling is it wise to break a character up into separate parts or have one meshed object with bones to deform. I guess I am gonna start a model and wanted to know the best way to approach it. I am worried about creasing and weird deformations.

Also, any great sites out there with tutorials on great modeling for games. Most of what I have seen are like gumby looking characters toting machine guns. I was so impressed by BoBo and Whirlwind. I know it takes a lot of practice, but I think I am passing the gumby game character stage.

Thanks!

Brook

usually in games, the characters are one single mesh,

but the accessories etc. could be separate objects.

experience is very important. experiment and try to find

solutions to problems.

Surf over to www.polycount.com. Swim through the message boards (pay close attention to the sticky threads), and dive into the tutorials section. Everything I know came from that big green planet. In the end, your best choice is practice and hands on experimenting. And don't forget...always improve. When you've finished one creation...make another that's even better. When you're comfortable with one technique, try another.
