View Full Version : Megan's WIP thread
csgirl 07-25-2007, 08:44 PM Gosh, it has been ages since I've posted anything. Life gets crazy, doesn't it? But I'm back at it again, so I thought I would start a thread for my WIPs. Please, feel free to make suggestions!
So, here is my current WIP:

Laying in the colors. Those leaves are going to be a pain, i just know it.

the colors are nice. a tad bit saturated for the background but i just prefer less saturation i guess, well, for the backgrounds anyway.
the only suggestion i can think of is ... assuming she is on a swing, her hands would be situated much higher in order to maintain her balance from that position. or maybe that's just how i ride the swing myself. lol
anyways you're doing a good job. i like how subtly you begin your work!

Hmm, I see what you mean about her hands. Looks like she is about to jump off the swing...though maybe she is. :p

Her legs are too thin arounf the ankle. They're like twigs, I could snap them off with my hands.
Honestly, it looks as though she's malnourished.... unless that was the effect you wanted...

Chrizimer, the thinness was intentional, but I don't want her to look malnurished. I'm going for a stylized look rather than realism. But you're right her lower legs are too thin.

This is the new picture I'm working on, but I'm getting frustrated with it. With the boy in particular. I've repainted him three times so far, and I still don't feel like he is right. Also, the picture isn't feeling very dynamic at this point. So I would love some suggestions!

The first thing that struck me, which perhaps would add some interaction and dynamics, is to make both poses three-quarter views rather than front view.
Hope that helps. Keep it going! ;)
I forgot I had already made a general WIP thread, so I'm going to try and combine the two.
I'm still working on come play with me (change in the figures and building the background), but I'm letting it sit for a few days. So here is the painting I started last night.

Well, it is all done, though I had to back-track some. I lost a lot of my last update when I lost the file and had to go back to an earlier version. Sigh. But she is finally finished!

This little darling appeared on my sketch book today during lunch (right between the flapper and gargole). She looked so happy, I had to paint her.

Some more work, decided she needed a friend or two to keep her company (and balance the composition)
