Perhaps the only image I am happy to call finished. This was made as a mock advert just for fun, so don't expect to see it in print. Created with Cinema 4D R8.1 and Photoshop 7, it took around 6-7 hours in total over 3 evenings. Time was split 2:1 between the apps.

n..ICE :D

this crit is aimed more towards how you've positioned the black ice logo over the word... and we all know what the word is... i was thinking that it would be more effective if the 3 '*' represented the UCK so that you'd have F 'logo' ING

hope you could understand what i mean?..might work better....just a thought

The *** logo was quite difficult, this is at least the 5th version. the problem is the width of the freezer logo, which means the UCK would be effectively stretched out underneath, or I have to use a wider font for all of the text. I kinda went half way, so the UCK wouldnt fill the gap anyway.

imashination...

I hope you don't mind... i took the liberty of photoshopin your pic.. to try and show you what i meant...
i didn't have the proper font, but i scaled and skewed a regular one...

personally i don't think you need to have any letters underneath the logo.. the stars speak for themselves...

The glass looks excellent! The reflection sit really well and it actually looks like glass... :D

The only oddness I can see with the bottle itself is the texture toward the top of the bottle (on the neck), the text is a little wonky and the words "black ice" don't seem to follow the curve of the neck around properly - this looks more obvious when your eyes quickly flit from the main label to the neck...

As for the image as a whole, I have to say I'm not a big fan of the background... The ghosted bottles toward the right and the 'leaf' surround of the main bottle look weak in comparison the quality of the render. It also makes for an odd framing of the image... I know it's not going to print, but as it is the format/focus would have a hard time sitting well in a magazine and the proportions wouldn't work for a poster. I only say that because these are formats we're used to seeing day by day.

Could you post some info on your reflection maps/techniques/settings? :)

Nice crits. As mentioned, I've kinda shut the door on this image for now, but Im sure there will be more product type stuff in the future.

- The wonky neck logo is due to a wonky made image ;-)

- They are supposed to be snow flake type things round the image, but I do realise that they kinda look more like the canadian maple leaf flag.

- The idea with the *** being covered is so that the reader skips over it to see read "Its cool" and maybe laughs that the Smirnoff Ice logo was used to censor it.

- Created with home-made HDRI images (You can see the probe stand shadow in the middle and my bike shadow on the left ;-)) and the default C4D radiosity settings. Not much more to say really, fresnel on the transparency, all labels are just textures, not actually modelled on top (this is the first thing I would do If I continued on it) The smirnoff pale bottoles on the top right were just ripped from the front of the smirnoff website O:-) Cant afford to buy the real ones...

All just a simple lathe NURBS object spun round (duhhh) 1 light added for a bit of extra specular.

Maybe I'll write a tute or 2 :)
