I'd like to hear some suggestions on how to add that nice atmospheric "fog" that you see when you are looking at the horizon. I've found the fog really difficult to use and would like to hear if anyone else has some solutions to this problem. This is a link to the scene that I want to apply this effect to if anyone is interested or can maybe help me out.

Hi!

I have been using the shaders from Pelham Design for such an atmospheric fog:

Pelham Design (http://www.pelhamdesign.com/shaders/c4d_shader_gallery.html)

Very nice image, btw!

Dan, what did you use for the clouds? They look great! Just like a photo...

Hmmm....Well.....it is a photo applied to a background object. I wish I could do clouds like that in C4D but I'm nowhere near that good. :) Thanks! -- dano

Yep Pelham's atmospheric shaders are the best thing for this, so good I think thats why we havent seen another one. Well Oxaone is now beingtested so maybe that can be used for clouds and atmosphere when its released.

The fog shader from Pelham looks very promising. I'm at work right now so I can't download it but is there any kind of documentation about how to use it. Is it easy? I can't imagine how it works. Thanks! -- dano

There is a problem when using the Pelham design plugs with Pyrocluster. The fog effect is added to the pyro puffs wether the fog is behind the puffs or not. So, it is quite hard to use PC for clouds and Pelham design (or Environment fog for that matter) in the same scene.
I've used a lathed slice with fog centered on the camera to create a nice haze layer that won't interfere with PyroCluster. As the slice is created from a spline it is easy to modify its shape to get the desired haze fallof.
I don't have a website if someone wants to see the file, or better yet host the file, drop me a line to: back_man4@telia.com (remove the underscore before mailing, I am a bit paranoid about spambots)

The fog component of Praline (formerly of Bhodinut, soon from David Farmer) is the best for this type of effect. Here's a quick example I whipped up:

Well, it appears to be a fantastic plug, only I can't get it to work the way I want it to work. I wish there was some documentation that came with it. The fog and haze is always to thick, I've adjusted the transparency both up and down and can't quite get the effect I want. Does anyone know of some documentation??? Sorry to be such a pain. TIA! -- dano

Praline is no longer availabe for mac or pc. All bhodinut plugins were both mac and pc, hopefully sometime soon Darf (one half of bhodinut) will be selling new improved versions of Praline and other ex-bhodinut plugins directly from his own website.

Darf mentioned on the Cow forum that he will probably be making some announcments on all forums tomorrow afternoon (3/28). Actually I added the "probably". :)
