I'm using maya 7 and I want to start composing things from maya with video.
i'm looking for information on compositing visual effects with my 3D projects but i cant find much or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place.
to make a long story short, I'm want to find how some os the effects made in movies are really made. stuff like going trough a wall, stop time when one preson is still moving or making one person a whole lot bigger then the other in the same camera shot.
I will really like it if anybody here could help me find information about those stuff and if not tell me who can I ask.
thanks.

Once you have a fairly good grip on the software, like shake or nuke, meaning you've read/understand the manual and have done some tutorials to where you're no longer a complete beginner - a good book that might help you is the Encyclopedia of Visual Effects by Damian Allen. Pop into a bookstore and check it out - it has quite a few "recipes" on how effects like these are accomplished.
