Title: Sony Ericsson W710i
Name: Bancha Vijitratanakit
Country: Thailand
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay

So far I had been modeling mostly organic forms and I thought its time I started doing some technical modeling.
I started this model with a plane and all the obvious surface details are actually modeled in, I did not use any displacement or normal maps. I also tried to stay away from boolean operations. However, I did end up having to use it on some parts. This scene was rendered with VRay with global-illumination.

Hi, cool render. I was gonna buy one of these phones a while ago...But I decided to go with the w810i instead. Anyway, back to the 3D, great modelling, very clean and smooth. And i like the lighting setup and the environment. Nothing much to crit really, all the materials look good...

Just out of curiosity, what did you use boolean on?

Nice work. :)

ChrisWalker, I used it on the back (the gray frame that goes around the bottom part) to put the text "Sony Ericsson" onto it. It's not visible in this render and I probably won't be rendering that area cause the phone then has to be facing down and it wouldn't make a very interesting render. It created quite a mess when I did the operation and I had to clean it up after. With that one reason and a few others have really been keeping me away from using it.

I'm glad people like the way I lit the scene. I did tried using HDR but later decided to go for a studio setting.
