View Full Version : convert sound to animation
LeeGriggs 07-24-2007, 08:44 AM Hello, I was wondering how it would be possible to convert an mp3 music file into keyframes within Maya?
I know how to do this within After Effects. Maybe there is a way of exporting this information into Maya as well?
cheers,
lee

Hi!
I once noticed on highend3d there is a plug called midi converter, i have not tryed it yet.
Another way of converting your mp3, is to use Houdini with Chop editor, it's easy and you can then export to maya anim curves with channel export mel script, you can find it on www.sidefx.com forum or in www.odforce.net also available in forum.

do you have a link xcomb? I did a search on the site but it did not come up with anything. Would it be in the animation scripts do you think?

unfortunately, I do not have Houdini. Do you think I would be able to do this with the learning edition? Do you think it would it let me export the mel script?
thanks for your help,

all you have to do is use the audioWave Plugin node in the bonusTools
It allows you to use the amplitude to drive animations.
Read the bonusTools docs if you need more help then come back here.
