i want one and my mind is pretty much set on the brand and size but i dont know if i should wait for the next gen or buy now, i hear the new ones will be LED backlit and have built in iSights but who knows when those will come out. i love the high resolution and the design.
anyone have any thoughts. i will be using mostly for animation, painting, compositing, video editing, myspace, etc etc

You said you're settled on the brand...but! hehehe, I believe the Dell 30" is the same panel (so same screen properties) and is cheaper. Naturally, the looks are different, and that could be a selling point for you.

Do you use a webcam as it is? if not, why do you need one integrated, if you do, what are you going to do with the one you've got? Personally, I see the iSight as a little unnecessary...(The iSight is the integrated webcam isn't it???)

LED backlighting is a big thing though - lower power comsumption and more even lighting across the monitor, so no bright and dark patches os current monitors - it also allows a thinner design, which I always think is good.

For myspace and animation, the differences between the panels wouldn't be noticeable. More even lighting may help with painting/compositing and video, if you deal with colours their.

The new revision may also recieve a panel upgrade - whether thats a good or bad thing would be unknown until its reviewed (recall the issues with the Dell 2407 screens?)
