CGTalk - magnifying render preview goes black

Hello... newbie here

When pressing ALT+LMB+MMB to magnify the rendered preview... the image goes to black. Does this problem have to do with my pathetic Matrox g450? I have read that the card does not contribute to the render, but does I'm assuming it contributes to the maintenance of the image after the render.

Or is there something more serious?

I'd say it's the video card I'm afraid.
