not bad I feel stupid asking but what are you using for grass?
Is it SLA, or Shave and a haircut (I Hope not).
please I want to know.
Not stupid, I learnt how to do it by asking someone on cgtalk as well. You use HairDepartment a free plugin in plugin Cafe and specify only 2 poly volume to make it flat so its acctually pollies and texture it like you would anything else. It take somes getting used to and can be quite high in poly count but you can get pretty good results. Id like to mention that there are other ways of doing this that are more efficant that Im not familiar with. Maybe someone else knows a beter way...
If you want the figures I used Id be happy to write a mini tutorial.
thanks Ndat I think that I will be able to figure to out on my own but you might want to write a little mini tutorial for all those other folks so they dont have to ask.
maybe koyatus can host it if you need webspace.
thanks a million.
ndat, I'm getting a page not available error... Out of bandwidth?

You have to cut and paste the link in your browser address; geocities doesn't play nice when doing direct linking

Woops! Thanks for the tip, cut and paste worked fine... Like the grass ndat. I'll have to try that. Don't know much about textures yet, but my crit would have to be the yellow strip on the road looks mighty wide. Course, it's sort of cartoony, and maybe that's what yer going fer.
Lol actually I was going mor for realistic :) Ill fix that.

I would first make the street wider... it looks to be about 2 feet wide right now. Curbs are usually 4-6 inches tall. the stripes are too short and too close together. I would also chane the noise you are using to just plain noise set at about 40% for scale. Asphalt is made up of tiny rocks, it doesn't have squiglly line running through it.
I really like the grass. That must be an incredile poly count. I also think you hit the concrete dead on. and the volumetric light give it the erie... spaceship landing feel that you are going for. Great Start! :airguitar
Thanks guys, Ill make the improvements you guys mentioned and then move closer to doing the street signs, house, bushes, and trees, well and maybe a fence, lol. Yeh youre pretty much right Fred that is a very high poly area, but just low enough so I can do a whole lawn of it :).
Ill post some updates tom, I shouldnt have even made that little bit today I have so much home work :(
