Cg work is supervised by Lee Stinger who worked on Serenity, FireFly and Battlestar, all with Lightwave. Check out the film and see what you guys think. This new web series is due to release Fall 2007 and they will be at Comic-Con this year promoting the film.

Thanks for the post. Sure I can tell you more about Trenches.

A scifi Original film that will air via the internet in 15 episodes .. coming Fall 2007
Shot in only 14 days from independent Producer / Director - Shane Felux.

Story tag of Trenches:
Locked in a grueling war on a backwater planet, two enemies find themselves abandoned by their own. They must put aside their differences and work together if they are to survive. And they better do it quick - they are not alone on this rock.

We were actually in the middle of shooting "Pitching Lucas" (http://www.atomfilms.com/film/pitching_lucas.jsp) on the set, when the studio called and said " we would like to do a film project with you.. what do you say" from there we presented "Trenches to them, they liked it, greenlit the project and now we are hoping you and audience might enjoy it.
Liek many of use we are still making films frmo our basement, but the industy is watching your work, and we happened to get a call in which they said "OK, here is some gas money what can you do"
We did "Trenches"

The FX work is all being done on Lightwave coordinating artists via the web form all differnet locations. Here they have some CG models and shots posted:

and here are production stills:

The idea is that if we find an audience and people like what we are creating then "Trenches" stands a chance to become a new TV series or possible feature.

Anyway .. hope you guys like it .. Iall the info is at: http://trenchesonline.com (http://trenchesonline.com/)

Awesome.
I am curious, could you tell us a bit more about the production.

How are the cg assets coordinated?
Do you guys storyboard you sequences?
How fast is the shot turnaround for the production?

What would you say has been the biggest challenge so far?
And finally So you have any production sketches you could share with us?

And BTW thanks for sharing.

I will answer as best I can without typing to much for you guys.

Awesome.
I am curious, could you tell us a bit more about the production.

How are the cg assets coordinated?

Well, a task list is created by the CG Supervisor, in our case Lee Stringer, who goes over the script with the Director. All shots are discussed and mapped out to create an FX list. Right now "Trenches" for a 56 page script has about 163 FX shots, that's a fair amount of work to do in only a few months time.

Do you guys storyboard you sequences?

I wish we did or could. "Trenches" from the greenlight had only 7 weeks of post production and there is a ton to do, plus no budget or time for storyboards or what I would have prefered "Previz". So we talk it out, the director has it all in his head (so he says) and comminicates to the department heads what is needs, required and what it should look like. The one thing that is mapped out and has to be is the "shot list". Shooting is not just made up on the fly, it's all planned out and worked out beofre you get on set and the CG Sup is there as well to advise "can you track this if we shoot it this way" "will this work ok in post" "are you ok with this" and so forth. A whole method to the madness if you can believe it :)

How fast is the shot turnaround for the production?

There is not much time on this production for shot turn arounds, so you have to have a good dedicated team working with you to insure we have what we need coming in on deadlines. Right now the eidt is holding up the post FX and we are simply trying to do what we can. Not easy while working a regular 9-5 job, having a family and making movies on the side.

What would you say has been the biggest challenge so far?

The entire thing is huge and perhaps the biggest challange we have taken on. Coordinaing so many different artists and talent from all over. Staying on budget which is a joke, and making sure the product comes out at the vision you set to create. Shooting a huge scifi action film in 14 days was murder and the post side of it is enormous. We do not have huge teams working on this, but just a hand full doing as they can and getting paid peanuts.

And finally So you have any production sketches you could share with us?

Sketches.... er yeah, we has some concept art. A good deal I did myself and sent it to other artist to clean up and to communicate the films design and look.

Here is some concept art for you guys.

That's what it's all about! I just hope you guys enjoy it and thanks for the kind interest
