If you want depth of field you need to have the Advanced Render module, if you want to kill the field then press alt+f4 ;)

there are two kinds of depth of field. The simple one is available in C4D R8 without add-ons, and can be activated and tweaked in the camera settings. The other is only available if you have the Advanced Render Module, and can be tweaked in the Render Settings dialog, under Effects.
