My first "matte painting" and I've chosen to start with some Day to Night action. I was excited to get started, so I haven't cleaned up the plate much at all...just dug right in. I'm kinda fumbling my way through and could use some early critique/comments. Not so much about what doesn't look right (since there are a lot of areas that have barely been touched) but input on where you would work next and how you might do it. Thanks.

P.S. - I'm using a Wacom tablet and Photoshop CS2.

Edit: I'm planning on making this a rainy scene with good highlights/reflection on the road as well as creating and lighting the interior as if it were open for business. I'm in the process of creating the proper ambient light and color value on the building face. Other than that, any ideas would be helpful.

not bad, but you need to adjust the light on that building lit area...it's no more daylight, so the shade and intensity should match the source ;) right now you can still see cast shadows and intensity as in daylight.

I'm not sure what the best route would be to correct this. I assume you're talking about the shadows in the windowsills and ledges on the front coming from the upper left while the lamp is to the right side of the building. Any techniques you would suggest? Masking, painting, moving the light source? I think moving the light would throw off the focal point of the image, so that's probably out (though it would be the easiest fix). Help?
