View Full Version : Randomizing particle size

I'm sure this'll be an easy answer, but I'm sort of a dynamics newb. I want my emitted blobby particles to have a slightly random sizes, but I can't get this to work. I've been trying using this expresson:

particleShape1.radius = rand(0.04,0.4);

set to be a creation expression, but they still come out all the same size. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Did you add a radiusPP attribute?

so your expression would be

particleShape1.radiusPP = rand(.42,.98)

nope, how do I do that?

Goto your particleshape tab and under per particle click General, then in the window that pops up goto the particle tab, find radiusPP in the list, press Ok. That should add the attribute.

Next right click in the grey blank text area next to radiusPP, select creation expression, or runtime, whatever your going for, and then enter your expression here.
