Title: Transformers DEVASTATOR
Name: Javier Carabajal
Country: Argentina
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay
Hi all,
Im happy to post here, this is my last work devastator. This is for all tranformers fans who dont like the new movie designs. Anyway I think the movie robots are awesome, but they could be more similar to originals. As you can see I didn change anything, because I wanted to do exactly like original. I hope you like it, comments are wellcome :)

cool i hope they write devastator into the next movie.. well done on the clasic model.
Hasnt this been posted once before? reworked? i remember the background for some reason.
only crit now that its been brought up is the tire texture if you cloned it i would have rotated it so they all dont have the same placement it looks rushed in detail when they rest looks good.
Nit picking i guess keep it up

Yea super work, but from where did some of those parts came out?(hand? lol) Thats why they did some more "alienz" designs, and the parts were all in the vehicles, not just random parts that cant even fit in the vehicle.
cheers.

I remember seeing this on a few other boards. You're take on Devastator is truly amazing. Have you considered doing an animation accurate color scheme? (all the black parts would be translated into a violet, though personally I'd go for a dark purple). One thing that gets me though, is why you have tires on the thighs? Is it just artistic preference?
I seen it over on 3D Total some months ago and as I pointed out then, this is very well modeled & textured! + detailed niely.
While your comments on the new movie designs are warranted, I still dont beleive I'd take a film seriously, if the robots were designed based on the original cartoon. And yes the new Transformers are AWSOME! So was the film!
Again nice work bringing translating it to 3D with textures.

ok that's really cool. I've always wondered something however. Wouldn't that bulldozer on his right foot pick up crap while he was walking or running?

Awesome work!
My only question.. is what vehicle did the wings on the chest come from??

Hey Dude, that right there is 5 star work. I feel the nostalgia and I feel Devastator right about to stomp some ass.
Everything's great! You got the lighting right, there's even a bit of glare around the corners.
If you ask me, there's only one little thing. I'd rather see everything around him Devastated and ripped apart and have billowing black smoke coming right out of them. Those crane pylons should be twisted and the trees in the background on fire.
Then it'd be really sweet hahaha

Yeah, that's the way I would have prefered it be done. The movie was great but if they had done the robots like this I could have given it a 10 out of 10 instead of a 8.5 to 9.

Wonderful. This is a kind of transformer I'd like to see on movies, cause this is the Devastator I rembember to see when I was a kid. And there's nothing wrong with his look, it would be perfect for a movie, at least in my opinion. Great job man, 5 stars work.

Big thanks for the classic homage Javeta! 10 stars all the way! I am also curious about the tires on the upper legs. Are they part of the dump truck, or are they part of his lower legs?

Ah, I would have liked a style like this so much more for the movie! Devastator was in the movie, but not recognizable at all. He even transformed into a tank...
The anatomy of your model does seem a bit too blocky, though. I think I would have like it better if the upper half of his body were not so much like a big box in shape and a bit more organic.

Well done, the lighting is really nice, and the design is a good mix between realistic and the original toys. My only recommendation is that his arms seem a little short, I would extend them down a bit to be in relation to his body.

Hello! Thanks for your comments
Answering some questions , I tried to make this model the most similar to original, if you see the cartoon the thighs and arms are additional parts, you never can see where they come from, so I added some tires to thigts like maybe they are part of another vehicle. Actually Im working on a devastator transformable version, so Im remodeling some parts making more organic, and replacing additional parts, of course trying to keep the original design :)

First of all this is my first post so if I posted in the wrong spot I'm sorry. I'm in college right now for 3D modeling and I'm kind of wondering how I am doing, and I'm currently doing my own transformer right now too. I chose to ask you my upcoming question because I think that your Devestator is very impressive and accurate, and was curious if you'd be ok with sharing how many hours or days, or whatever you go by, it took you to complete it. Care to share?
Also, if this information is posted already and I just missed it, sorry for wastin your time. Either way, love your work, also, great job on the environment; Low key, brings the transformer out well, but definitely not too simple. Great work.

how much did you plan in advance. did you do sketches and diagrams beforehand? Also i assume that the vehicles were modelled sepeerately in a mirrored fashion and then modified at the back to make the arms.

Yes ,looks very beautyful!
I have seen the new film yesteday,I think so much petty details on these robots that couldn't see "the face",Too many form changes what don't be like!
