View Full Version : Polygonal Booleans
Just a simple nut and bolt kind of thing im trying to achieve.
I choose the nut then the bolt and then polygons/booleans/difference and end up with my boolean but it also does something strange with my geomotry. Have a look at the attached image and please help...thnx

Do you have any history on either of the objects involved? Sometimes history can cause some un-expected results with booleans.

Try the "clean up polygons"
Maya polybooleans are somewhat quirky sometimes :P

I'd say dont even bother with booleans in maya...

delete history, cleanup polygons as suggested. Also save and quit the app, reload and try the boolean again, thats worked for me at times. strange? nah ;)
What a nightmare that is ust to get a
decent boolean. Allthough your suggestions
did work it was still rediculous to have to
jump through hoops in order for it to work
correctly.
