I just start to work on my Best of burden model (a past cgtalk challenge) ... i just want to animate him in a little environnement.

waow! you are one amazing talent hiko! the modeling is awsome and the deformations looks really nice! really looking forward to more animations, this piece really amazed me, even though I had seen it before. waw, greeeeat!!!

Hey hiko really nice only thing the jaw me sameble un peu trop vers l avant on dirait que ton os n ai pas la bonne place.............exept that the deformation on the knee andarm are beautiful add some muscle deformation and irt will be ****king good............

nice job Hiko, I'd like to see him with a little more bump, and maybey some hair on those legs down to the hoves. The color map in your test is coming along nicely, but mabey break it up with some spots, dirt, etc...

Could you maybe tell us a little on how you thought out the rigging? I mean, did you use a one-off rigging scheme or did you adapt some other, and how did you do it? It looks so cool with the muscles and skin deforms and everything... :eek:

ok hiko the latest is looking amazing, the veins in the legs simply rock!!! The spec is still looking too plain, needs to be broken up more, I still say add some hair, make him look really scragy, like wet and dirty, its already heading there. im keepin an eye on this....love to see what other xsi users are up to..

hiko you modeling style is just amazing it make me want to switch from lightwave to xsi. I think you will be getting a cgtalk award when you are finish with the model. The texture are just in aw. Great work

Oh beauty !!

That's really heading in the right direction there. My suggestion would be like Spirit said, break up the specular a little, because right now it's looking really wet. I think your reds are also a little oversaturated. It will look more realistic if you tone it down a little bit.
The animation looks GREAT, and the rigging is impressive. You're probably still working on it but the back legs really look like they're attached to the ground. If you add a little backwards motion to one of them it will definitely look awesome.

But your work never ceases to amaze me, man. I'm sure the future holds only good things for you.

Keep us posted, we want to see more.

YOu have a sick talent my friend he's definitely one mean mutha :) can we see some of the color maps you used? The veins are absolutely beautiful! But one thing about the vein in the shoulder, this one needs to protrude more, as this area will be worked very hard by this beauty err umm beast ;) It should be pulsing with all the blood flow in that area.

One thing I have to know, who the heck is controlling this beast? :eek: he must be one bad a$$ mamma jamma :cool:

Amazing progress your making on this model. Certain areas of the body texture can use less shine, to add tone variation, but Im sure your still working that out. Excellence. :buttrock:

Well Hiko thats looking ****in great!!! No hair I guess huh? oh well, on the lighting, is this final gathered, seems a little too dark. If not give it a run through final gathering, should bring it to life a little more. I also would still love to see some spots or more evident discoloration on his back, and the veins, well they're just about perfect, did you paint them, or proscederal.? So can he stand? Im really impressed with where you've taken this, but keep pushin it..really amazin work man.

Heya guys,

After a looooong time ... there is a little update. Now I have some spare time to finish my little animation project. Of course i have changed the old crappy model, design, textures.
On this test you can see some trouble with the backleg muscles, but it's fixed on the current muscle rig. The hair curves number are increased since this render too.

It looks nice, but the leg style bug me. With those type of partialy inverse legs with hooves, he wouldnt be crawling on all fours. He would be mostly standing upright, maybe partially slouched over.

Hiko, nice work,

I really prefer this new texture to the old one, and the hair is really bringing it up a notch.

I have a couple crits, mostly design related: I think the front hand's nails are far too long, especially considering he walks on all fours, his fingernails would probably snap off at that length, or at least get worn down to a nub.
As well, as the previous poster said, he probably shouldn't have hooves with the inversed legs.

Anyway, really nice work, I like the character, and it would be great to see it in motion.

Adding a broken chain would be a nice touch.

Hey guys, thanks for the replys and compliments :scream:.

Chaoticon & KWAK I am totaly agree with you for the hooves on the inversed legs and the nails :thumbsup: . I tried to imagine something a little bit original and different than "standard" monsters.

Anyway I have finished the rigging, enveloping, texturing process so it will be painfull to change the model again :rolleyes:. I will add some chains and try to do some animations tests soon.

I agree on the fingernails part with the KWAK and Chaotic but I understand the hooves, after all is a beast of burden with alot of burden to hold (Tower of Pisa as I recall).

Vraiment excellent travaille, les postures sont vraiment cool (à la fois menacantes et sur la defensive) mais je prefere ses anciennes pattes et ses chaines également

En tout cas excellent, j'ai hate de voir la suite.

the hooves are pretty cool, but i liked the feet digging into the ground a lot. just wondering, what setting are u gonna have him in?
