View Full Version : Depth of field? ARRRG!
Kotayus 03-25-2003, 04:41 PM I am trying to get depth of filed to work with the camera settings...i know that sadie has a tutorial, but i cant follow that either...is there a way to explain depth of field as you would a 3rd grader? i have seen some really great effects with it and would like to experiment a little bit.

Actually im looking for some really easy basic settings...for depth of field...not on whats correct just how to get it done...do i have to use depth of field tags? is it done through post effects in advanced renderer? please help!

You have to do a couple of things. First, you have to enable depth settings in the Camera's Depth tab. Once you do that you'll see near/far planes represented in the camera object. You can drag these using the orange handles to establish the near/far focus fields.
Second, you have to enable dof in the Render-->Effects settings.
Then you just have to play with the blur strength/distance settings. If your subject is centered in the frame, using the autofocus setting will make things easier.
That's the basics, but there are a bunch of other settings that are explained in the manual.
