I would say : Try to reduce polycount a bit - it´s easier to model and surface will be smoother. If you´re gonna make some details after basemodel you can add extra polys.

good for a first timer, but.. why so much geometry @ the middle seam?

my guess would be that its a seam he has there (maybe not welded??) with meshsmoothing on creating heavy polies there? dunnow...looks good for first mesh tho!! keep 'er goin!

Dravenfr good start but I agree with Killerj, its better that you have a lower poly count so you can manipulate things easier and it looks clean as well... now when I started I thought it would be better to have a high poly count to make it look smooth but when I came down to Doing adjustments it became difficult to modify or adjust things... plus it look really messy .... here check this out!
this is how nice and clean a model should look! Its very low and yet it has High quality output!!

I hope you Keep this in mind its really helpful!

Thank you everybody :)

The snapshot is a screen with meshsmooth itineration 1, but when I move vertices I hide meshsmooth and work on a lowpoly character !!!!

( on more time sorry for my english ) :)
