Hey ppl. Just wanted to show you my animation I did for school. The requirement was to make a beginning for a demo reel and has to be at least 30 seconds. Well, I made this UT2003 model that I posted here before and so I used that model. I don't think my final demo reel is gonna look lika that, I think 40 seconds of the same character is a bit too much, but I just had to fulfill the class requirements. But either way, I've got some animations done with the character that I thought I'd show you. Any critique, comment, whatever is very very welcome.

oh and make sure you have the latest divx installed or else it might not play properly.

Looks very good I like the jump and the kick at the end but mayB you can fix up the legs at the running animation his legs look a lil bit weird on it

Pretty damned cool man. He did look a little "clunky" with that running ani though. And was that the gun proxy for the game in one of the shots? Anyways, i thought it was pretty cool. Especially that little air hump at the end. :airguitar

harmonic01, I think you've got a pretty cool character going there. I think there are a couple areas in the animation that could use some work:
1) The run & walk cycles are suffering from saddle legs. His feet are too far apart. The faster you run, the closer together they get. When you hit a sprint, you're pretty much running on a strain line. Let me know if this doesn't make any sense.
2) His 3/4 creep is a little jerky. Usually when you see someone moving like that, they are moving very slow, but also very evenly. Your character goes and stops, goes and stops. Someone moving that way is also usually very light on their feet, but your character almost seems to be stomping.
3) The landing is pretty good, but the take off could use a little more anticipation. Have him crouch down a bit before he takes off.
4) The kick is a little isolated in the leg. When someone kicks like that, it's usually a whole body thing. I see the body follow through in the end, but it seems too little, too late.
5) There is really no, or very little hip movement. The hips need to rise and fall on each side, depending on where his weight is, and the need to rotate forward and backwards also. It is very evident in the shot where you see his butt while he's running. It doesn't budge.

I hope this isn't too overwhelming. You've really done a great job getting here, and these are just little nitpicks that will really make your work shine. I hope you keep working on him, he's a great little guy.:applause:

the character is fine. Dont botther changing it.

However, you have to show more then just 1 character.

Thanx Babyhopper, yeah those things you mentioned never really occured to me. But hey, that's the point of critiques. :-) Thanx allot.

roarty, this is by no means my final demo reel, just a little tiny..... I don't know what to call it actually. :-)
