This is actually my first post here and my first Digital Matte Painting, I'm actually a more 3D guy myself but I like to try different forms of art, I've been lurking in this forums for a while but never actually posted anything but I think it's time to contribute too

I used one of the photos from the challenge, but I'm not participating on it, I've looked over the submissions to get some inspiration and they sure look awesome , hopefully some time in the future I will be able to create such masterpieces.

I've painted some things and used some photo references also.

Nobody want to comment? Is it that bad?

No it's not, it's actually quite good :) but can you upload a higher res ? It's hard to spot things on this resolution :)

Ohh... I see now, that's infact one of the things I really regret on this work because that's the real resolution :banghead:, I don't like to work with big resolutions because it slow downs my computer and it's easier to paint with lower resolutions, but only after I worked a few hours on it, I started to regret the fact I was working with such low-resolution.

For the next project I will make sure I don't decrease the resolution(at least not so much).

Also thanks for the comment

2000 pixels longest side at 200- 300 dpi

this is the res i normally work at, if you have a fast and reliable comp 4000 pixels sometimes helps. But this will cripple your computer.

Format and resolution normally starts abig debate amongst the artists here so try ou a variation but ideally a letterbox panoramic view is the standard, squre and portrait is also good. like the idea on your image.
