View Full Version : Repetitive lines
spheroid 07-15-2007, 01:35 PM Is there a function to create repetitive lines like this:

It has a varying amount of space in between each line, at certain point.
Photoshop or Illustrator
Thanks!

I'm not at my machine now to make sure about this, but I think if you try this, it will work.
Make a brush that will create the lines. Basicly a brush with single black pixels spread out horizontally, with white pixels between them. The brush can be on pixel in hight.
That will create multiple lines.
To distort the lines as you draw them, set the brush properties to allow you to change the brush angle as you use the brush. If you need more directions on this, I'll be home later tonight when I can try it out.
Hope it works

Thanks. Yes it works, but i find it difficult to control the brush properties and the smoothness of the flow. Is there a way to duplicate vector lines (the pen tool) and set the spacing inbetween each line?

in illustrator, draw the curve (or whatever) you want to copy. Then use something from the object->transform menu and click "copy" instead of "ok." Or copy-transform it by holding alt while dragging the object. The point is to do a copy-transform so the original object stays. Then you can use "transform again" from the transform menu (ctrl-D) to make multiple copies and repeat the transform for each one.
in photoshop (I just figured this out) ctrl-alt-T will do the first copy-transform and ctrl-alt-shift-T will do a copy-transform-again.

Thanks alot! I learnt something new.
(Perhaps it's my location in Singapore that results in my post appearing several hours after I submit it. Sorry if there's any delay in my reply.)
