well when you have a model done with polys or patchs or ... you always can make edit mesh modifier and work with the object converted in a mesh but not loose the modifiers.

but if a have a premolleded object in a mesh or patch I cant have a modifier that allow me work like a poly, turn to poly dont aloow me latter work like a poly and use meshtools.

the unique solution i found is convert it to poly but with this operation I lose all the modifiers.

in the opossite case:

when i have a poly and aply edit mesh i can work like a mess and dont loose all the modifiers.

have eneone a solution or plugin please.

if i resolve this I could model in layers with polys.

Sadly, no such things exists. I know it's a wanted feature in MAX though, I think it's something we all want. It's just.. not there.. for reasons unknown. I like to think discreet has a reason, like there's some underlying philosophical reason why it can't or shouldn't be done, but.. idunno.. maybe their programmers are lazy?

Yes it' is needed modifier indeed and hopefully shows up in next update. I heard that it was planned to introduce in max 5 but was so unstable that they took it away. In max 6 then...?

argggggggggggggggg :thumbsdow

well no posibilitys to do it, it a pitty because the layers model is very good but when i do this i loose the polytools.

I use one edit mesh modifier to add detail.

Example: i create a new edit mesh in a character and rename it with more mouth detail .
if i dont like the changes the only thing i have to do is erase the modifier or desactive it.

when you do this tou can have a lot of edit mesh modifiers and work more interectavility with the modell .

but if you dont have polttools is less powerfull
:annoyed:
