hi, when modelling a car, do you model all the panels seperately? or do you model the whole body the detatch the seperate panels?

cheers.

also, would you keep all the polygons 4 sided? no triangles?

Sometimes. Depends on the car or object in general.
also, would you keep all the polygons 4 sided? no triangles? Same answer. I try to avoid tris in polymodelling when I have to smooth afterwards, but usually I prefer NURBS for hardbody modeling which result lots of tris when conveting into mesh objects.

yes I would model the panels separetley, and keep it quads as much as could there will be a few tris and/or n-gons, but strive for quads.

I agree , I would keep the car panals seperate. Look at how the vehicle is assembled in real life and that may help.

modelling a car is harder than i imagined though.

Would your question be for game models or high poly stuff? I make game vehicles and I usually model the exterior and break up into sections of moving parts and such before I go any farther.
