Any tips on how to achieve a realistic candle flame?

Thanks,

You might want to have a look here (http://www.centralsource.com/blender/effects.htm). They aren't tutorials, but you can download the blend files and have a look at how the effects were created. You might be able to use one of the files as a starting point for your candle flame. You might want to check out this article (http://www.blendernation.com/2006/11/15/non-particle-candle-flame-resource/) on Blender Nation which discusses creating a non-particle candle flame.

Here's an example with a .blend file (http://www.blendernation.com/2006/11/15/non-particle-candle-flame-resource/) that is probably the best candle flame I've ever seen in Blender. You can easily control the animation using armatures. The .blend file also includes the armature setup.

Here's an animated demo that I modified from the original. (http://www.blendernewbies.com/tutorials/video/using_your_mouse_for_animation/candle0001_0150.mov)
