finally we meet the guy responsible for all the trouble in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" :D

great work :) i love the scenery, the guy has some shading issues but very well done overall.

Looks really good. I like the landscape in the background. Is that modeled or a photograph? And another question, is his hair supposed to be flapping in the wind or does it just stick out in different directions? It's hard to tell.

Truly inspiring. Most people use formulas when creating characters. "A little of this guy, and a little of this guy." So really they're using elements from other creations.

This looks strikingly original, and I'm glad to see a lot of stuff like this appear lately.

Keep it up.

I'd say the foreground (the guy and the platform) is lacking in detail in comparison to the background (which is beautiful  - is it a painting?).

Is it just me or is there some weird geometry around the hip?

Can we see a wire?

very well done. i like the soft render as well - could you give us an idea of what software/renderer you used, and how you got that soft look? the background is amazing - great detail...

That is a cool pic!

The character is interesting. The background looks like a painting, like someone mentioned before.

Software(s) used ?

thanks guys! I used Max 4, after Softimage 4... I think I won't go back on softimage now :)
the mountain in the background is 3d with a huge texture of several landscapes I shooted during my holydays in quebec ;)
The foregrounds trees are 2D fakes, from Bordeaux in France!
its a magical mix of france and Quebec ! :p

I used a scanline renderer :bounce:
No GI, just omnis and direct lights,

See ya!

well the composition is really good but i think the lightning on the character doesn't match the rest of the scene, there is a kind of difference i can't really define

btw very niiice pict, i love the details of the background.

Nice job. The image has a really nice feel to it.

I think the pose of the character is a bit unnatural, though. If he's going to have his hand on the staff without putting his elbow on his thigh/knee, then I think it'd look better if his hand was further to the right, causing the staff to also lean more to the right. If you want the staff in that location, have him lean his elbow on his thigh, which would also affect the position of his right shoulder/clavicle region.
Also, with that pose, his right hand is kinked just a bit.

If you were to move his right hand to the right some more, making his staff lean to the his right (picture left), you'd create a bit of a diagonal, which would help the composition a bit. Right now, the darkness and vertical nature of the staff is really glaring.

If you change his pose at all, make sure you go in and give a little weight to his pose, as if there is an effort to have his body in that position, even if it's slight.
Many posed models have the feel that they are infinitely light and that there is no stress involved with the pose they're holding. In those cases, the general shape of the pose looks good but doesn't go the extra distance to portray the weight of the character, too.

I really like the character you've created. What are those tentacles on his head used for?

Amazing work but the only thing that caught my eye was that stomach and his left leg. The stomach looks weird and the leg looks bigger then the other one. But all in all its really sweet.

love this pic and all of the detail visable.

if you make a bird, a detailed one it would be awesome to have him interacting with one, possibly on that stick to the left, seems sort of obvious.

it would show some more controol over the birds he is 'lord of'

awesome job, i love it, mabey one day ill be this good, seigh

have fun, keep it up
