hi guys

this post is a follow up to my last post last week looking for a reflection falloff material/plugin OTHER than the usual falloff plugin.

i didn't find any other plugins, but i was thinking about a work around.
Can you guys think of any effective methods i might come up with to give me reflection falloff using c4d's standard or sla materials?
Any ideas using SLA falloff or gradiant falloff maps or anything else? i've tried a couple but with not much success, but im sure there's an effective alternative from the standard falloff map.

possibly try the sla volumetric materials, i know that Danel has distance falloff, so if you were to sue that for your reflective materials you might get somewhere. (possibly in combination with other materials?)

My method of work around is kinda complicated, but very effective.

Compositing....
Render out a beauty pass and a reflection pass of your object.
Then, render out a B/W falloff pass with the settings you need.

In AE or PS, you would have the beauty pass, then the reflection pass would use the falloff pass as a track matte.

hope this helps.
