View Full Version : Maya for Mac Playblasting
eric3dee 03-24-2003, 03:16 PM OK this may be a dumb question, but how in the world can I playblast to a .mov so I can hear it with sound? I go to the playblast options and the only viewer I can check is Fcheck.
Please help soon!

well, you can save out your images to a folder then import them as a sequence in QT player.
If you need to add sound to that, open your sound file in QT Player, select all, copy. Go to the beginning of your image sequence, choose Edit -> Add and you've got sound...
bit of a work around, I suppose... I wish there was a way to playblast right to QT - I'm sure there's got to be.

suc.
That sure takes some time to do EVERY TIME you want to playblast some lip-syncing. Surely there's a free plug-in to take care of this? Anyone? I know of one for Linux, but not Mac.:annoyed:

This works for me on Mac Maya:
Right after you finish playblasting, FCheck should automatically run and stich the frames together to play back. While in FCheck, go to file "Save as movie..." to save as QT movie. Its fast, but I'm not sure if audio comes through. You'll need to do a test.

Hmmmm... I believe you can execute applescript from MEL so I wonder if you could playblast and then launch an applescript to assemble everything in QT Player...
someone want to try tackling that?

Well, right now I've found it best to import the playblast into After Effects as an IFF seq and the sound as well. Then every time I playblast (assuming I overite my old playblasts) I just "Reload Footage" in After Effects. Again, after working with Maya on the PC and having it playblast to an AVI file which is automatically launched in a default media player is MUCH more convenient. Someone please fix our problem. please :)

eric3dee..
i agree with your statement.
one of the things that windows users has over Us mac users is that they can automatically have sound in their soundblasts.
